‘Help using your computer’ is a term that covers a lot of what I do, so is a good place to start. A large part of my job is simply helping people use what they already have.
Computers aren’t simple things, no matter what the manufacturers and retailers say. Users are often perplexed by complicated programs, confused by cryptic error messages and usually have only a glimpse of what their computers are capable of. If something doesn’t work straight away, their usual options are either to give up immediately or spend a long time trying to make it work, and then give up!
I can help take the stress out of using your computer and show you things you never thought it could do. I can explain what different programs are for, how they work, and help you use them. I can also help with or solve the kind of problems that cause those disconcerting error messages that do nothing but confuse and worry you.
I can also help with things like installing new software, maintaining your computer, keeping it secure, and offering training and advice, all in the comfort of your own home and when it suits you.
